The Sunday Post #19

expansive view of clear blue water and clear blue sky with some trees in background
Good evening one and all. I come to you live from the heart of hayfever hell, with a face that feels like it's going to fall off and probably a tree equivalent of used hankies (ew). It's not all bad though, as I'm working my way through some Cadbury's Heroes and it's still lovely and light outside. Have you all been basking in the beautiful weather this week?

What Have I Been Doing This Week?

Doing the 7 Day Thigh Challenge

This week I completed Blogilates 7 Day Thigh Challenge. I couldn't believe how difficult the simple-looking exercises were and I was so proud of myself for following through. A couple of months ago I would have given up after Day 1. While I haven't transformed into Miss Stick-Insect Legs, I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly I improved over the week. What absolutely killed on Monday and Tuesday was totally doable by Friday. It just goes to show - 20 minutes a day can make a huge difference.

The Sunday Post #18

large mac computer with Julz Obsessions blog on screen with Himalayan salt lamp, keyboard, mouse, A5 pale blue organiser and various lit candles in front
Happy Sunday folks! I've had a lovely evening consisting of Line of Duty, an online book club chat, a Harry Potter quiz and Neapolitan ice cream. Not too shabby at all. I took the above photo today when I went a bit on a candle rampage. Does it feel inception looking at it?

The Week
I finished the SEO work I've been doing piecemeal for weeks on Julz Obsessions. None of my photos had alt text so going through 300 posts and adding it was pretty laborious. I did love re-meeting old me as I went back in time though.

This week I wrote my first article for Quite Literary, a new online magazine called 'Books to Read in Your Early Twenties'. Give it a read and let me know what you think. Writing is exactly what I want to be doing more of in the months and years to come so I feel like this is the first step of a fabulous journey.

It looks like we're finally going to start coming out of lockdown. Is it just me or has everyone else lost all sense of time? It's as if we've been like this for 2 years, but also 2 minutes. While I'm very much looking forward to doing things like going to my fave restaurants, seeing my friends and family, going to the pub and shopping when we can, I also think I'll emerge on the other side changed. It's like the reset button has been pushed on my life and I can see clearly what's important, what I want, what I should be doing more of and less of.

The Sunday Post #17

pink surface with white ivy plant with pink suede bow tied around next to pink quartz stone, small pink plant pot with succulent and pink candle holder with burning white candle

I've been going through old posts fixing some technical aspects (lack of alt text, broken links etc) and very happily stumbled upon an old series I wrote in 2013 called 'The Sunday Post'. Each week on a Sunday evening I'd write a short blog post about what was going on in my life that week and what I'd been enjoying. Honestly, for the most part it was me gushing about One Direction and calling into the online abyss for friends who shared my Pretty Little Liars obsession. But I have completely loved reading these back. They're such a vivid reminder of a very specific time in my life where I was completely immersed in Higher exams and, as cheesy as it may sound, I was finding myself and my voice. Incidentally, reading through the number of posts I managed to produce back then, I'm in awe at how I managed to find any time for studying at all. I'd just got my first proper part time job in Wetherspoons and my favourite song was Avicii Wake Me Up. I ended up working in spoons for 3 years (maybe one day I'll write a book about the fun and games that went on in there). Funny enough, I've been listening to Best of Avicii on Spotify the whole lockdown. I guess we don't change that much even though our circumstances might.

So, I thought I'd dive back in - 7 years later - and write The Sunday Post #17. Even if no one reads it, I absolutely love looking back and catching a glimpse of myself in time.

The Sunday Post #16

Hey Everyone!

My Life
I have been completely non-stop this week- I'm so thankful this is a long weekend (Friday/Monday off school woo!). On Thursday night I went to Nando's for the (kind of) first time. I went in New Zealand a few years ago but can't remember it at all so I've pretty much never been. Now I see what all the fuss is about! It was amazing: the atmosphere and the food were just fab. Friday was pretty productive: my friends and I visited the travel agents about a summer holiday next year, I took lots and lots of pictures for upcoming posts (I like to do them as lots), I planned my english essay (too bad I didn't write it though) and went to a family gathering. I've also worked 19 hours this weekend (yep, safe to say I'm sleeping and typing!) so tomorrow will be a life saver for catching up with everything.

Update
Can you believe that I've managed to stick to my posting schedule this month?! I'm pretty proud, even if I do say so myself, having missed only one sunday post (and let's face it these are just random rambles!). For October I'm going to be posting every Tuesday and Thursday at 5pm and the odd post on a Sunday (probably just if I have anything to share!).

Current Favourite
I bought a new bag woop! Its been on the agenda for ages: my old brown one was literally hanging together by a few strands.
small grey leather bag
This was £6 and I really like the colour as I think it'll go with pretty much every outfit. I also like the zipped compartments and the fact its slightly bigger than my last so I can fit an umbrella in there.

Last night I also watched The X Factor for the first time this year all the way through and really enjoyed it. They really do make it as dramatic as possible. I wish I had the time to keep up with it but I'll definitely be tuning in when I can. I also love Nicole's hair and makeup- its just perfect!

The Sunday Post #16

floral makeup bag on left of fob watch printed cream notepad behind rose gold eyelash curler, pink lipstick, mascara wand and mini perfume
Hey Everyone!

Here I am back again with another weekly update/ diary entry style/ ramble-athon post!

My Life
This week was quite weird as I was only in school for 3/5 days. On Thursday I had work experience all day (which was actually really good!) and then on Friday I was at an open day thingamabob. I think this week has marked the beginning of autumn as the leaves have started falling (I really want to pick up and press some nice ones before they're all rained on!) and the heating has went on. Is it just me or does anyone else like the smell of the radiator being on? Today will hopefully be a catch up day- though I have a pretty unrealistic to do list (when don't I?!)

Update
I'm doing great with the whole scheduled post malarky- I now need to start working on October's posts! On a separate note, would anyone be interested in a blog button swap if I had one in the sidebar?

Favourites of the week
Song: Katy Perry Rawr- you have no idea how much I've been singing this this week! Alone in my room? Yep. In school? Yep. Humming it to myself randomly in the street without realising? Of course.
Nail Polish: Topshop Nails in Eclipse - I am so in love with this. I am considering breaking my nail polish spending ban and getting another one in a different shade. I have to take it off for work- but I just repaint them after and its on the rest of the week.
TV: I sat down to watch The X Factor last night and I actually really enjoyed it! I haven't seen any of the arena auditions yet but I'm really enjoying the panel.

The Sunday Post #14

floral makeup bag on left of fob watch printed cream notepad behind rose gold eyelash curler, pink lipstick, mascara wand and mini perfume
Hey Everyone!

Happy September! Today's post is a bit later than usual as I've been busy all weekend- but better late than never. Though its going to be short as I have Politics homework awaiting (yawn).

My Life
This week has consisted mostly of school. I'm still in summer mode so when I come home I am generally being unproductive. Though I did wash my makeup brushes, put on fake tan and paint my nails way too many times- which I guess is something. I'm going to get focused this week and manage my time so that I can keep up with school and blogging.

As I mentioned, this weekend I have been super busy. On Friday I went to Pizza Hut for a catch up with friends- we got the Happy Hour deal which was great value. Then on Saturday I had my induction for work woop! It was actually really enjoyable! Then today my family and I went shopping and ordered some new furniture for my room from Next (which I am sooo excited to arrive). We also went to the best shop on the planet, also known as Ikea. Is it just me that thinks of a visit to Ikea like a day out? I am always soo inspired by the showrooms and want to buy heaps, though today I managed to restrain myself.

Update
I have a new posting schedule this month. I have it planned out in my post planner (ooer how fancy) that I'll be posting every Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 5pm and an extra post on a Sunday. There's a whole lot to look forward to including my nail polish collection, lots of reviews and an autumn bucket list- so look out for those.

Favourites
This week I've very much been liking shopping my stash. I had a makeup clear out during the week (more on that coming soon!) and while scouting through my makeup found some things that deserve a bit more love. I've been using MAC Mineralize Satin Finish foundation that my cousin gave me daily and actually quite liking it. I think its like a high end version of Wake Me Up.

This week also saw the return of one of my favourite tv shows: Celebrity Juice. I just love it- I was excited for it all week. Do any of you watch it?

The Sunday Post #12

floral makeup bag on left of fob watch printed cream notepad behind rose gold eyelash curler, pink lipstick, mascara wand and mini perfume
Hey Everyone!

I haven't written The Sunday Post in ages! I thought that because I'd neglected it so much I'd give it a little revamp with a new picture (which I think is extremely pretty- if I do say so myself!).

My Life
Well, summer is officially over as I went back to school on Thursday. I've never experienced 6 weeks going by so quickly! It seems unfair how summer is so short while winter is so long. I am going to post a few snaps from over the summer towards the end of this month so look out for that. At the moment I'm so reluctant to get back into the 'school' routine. I was partly looking forward to seeing everyone in school and getting to wear my new uniform but now that's over its just work work work. I'm going to try harder this year not to let school take over my life and make blogging a priority too.

Highlight of the week was definitely Saturday. 2 AMAZING things happened- I got a job (finalllyyy!) and while out walking me and my friend found a £20 note!! WOOOHOO! Seriously-my lucky day :D

Update
You may of noticed a couple of small changes I've made to the layout such as new social media icons and a new signature at the end of each post. I'm really happy with the design now as all the colours tie in with each other. Also, I've been really making an effort to get myself organised with upcoming posts and  ideas for posts so that I can finally get back into posting every other day. I even found some printable blog planners which then led me on to some amazing organisation blogs. Don't you love it when you stumble upon a whole genre of blogs that are so inspiring and you didn't even know existed? So the plan is to post every other day at 5pm until at least the end of this month. I have also made a mental note to start using my instagram again as I was looking back on the instagram posts I used to do and had forgot how great a way it is to mark the week. If you aren't already- follow me julz_obsessions and I'll follow you back!

Current Favourite
I have soo many favourites at the moment because I haven't shared one in so long! I'm loving Avicii's Wake Me Up- in my opinion its the summer song of this year. I've also been loving Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara (review coming on the 30th) and MAC MSF in Soft & Gentle (review coming next month).

Let me know how your week has been :)
Happy Sunday!

The (Slightly Belated) Sunday Post #11

top of white drawers with small black TV, notebooks, sweets, candle holders, large pink jewellery box and lime green lamp
Hey Everyone!

Firstly, a big hello to my new followers. I'm hoping that people will start to use GFC again after the migration to Bloglovin'- I just don't like it as much. I feel like I'm always saying this, but apologies for the lack of posts of late. I haven't written an 'news' kind of post in a while- so I thought I'd give you a quick run down of what has been going on.

My Life
Probably the most exciting thing that happened recently was my birthday. I had a cute little family celebration, and was lucky enough to receive some lovely gifts. Other than that, I have just been preparing for my trip to Africa (I'm leaving tomorrow!) and watching wayy too much tv. Oh talking of TV- how great was the Wimbledon final?

Update
I'm not sure if I've already mentioned this, but I am taking a little break from Youtube. I may go back to it in the future, but for now I want to focus on blogging. I'm going to schedule a few posts for when I'm away then get into some sort of posting routine when I'm back.

Current Favourite
I have been in love with The Carrie Diaries over the past week! I watched the whole season in a few days. The fashion, characters, setting- everything is amazing! Do any of you like it?

The Sunday Post #10 I'm Back!

top of white drawers with small black TV, notebooks, sweets, candle holders, large pink jewellery box and lime green lamp
Hey Everyone!

My oh my- it has been ages- how are you all? I thought the best way to get back into posting would be a big catch up-y post. Its actually really weird writing one again- I'm so out of practice.

So where have I been? Studying for and sitting exams! Technically I'm not entirely done yet, but I have 9 days before my final exam, so I can take it easy and most importantly: get back into blogging. I certainly didn't realise just how much studying would take over. Under 5 posts a month speaks for itself. Weirdly, I actually wrote 3 posts a few months ago for the month of May- but they were guest posts for Confessions of a Secret Shopper. Pity I didn't think to prepare for my own absence.

It seems like everything is just going so quickly- is it really May?! Spring is almost over- what?! Although I have been very, very much appreciating the lighter nights. Its so much easier to take pictures when its light outside. Also, the past week there has actually been some sun! In Scotland! I know- miracles do happen.
blue sky with bright sun

Besides studying, I've been watching a lot of Youtube (there is always time for Youtube), a few movies (watched The Notebook for the first time a few nights ago- my tear ducts are still recovering) and I have, as I am a little embarrassed to admit, been getting into Geordie Shore. At first I was put off by the sheer cringe-factor, but its just so addictive! I have been a bit of a recluse though and, can you believe it, I haven't been shopping in months! Though I have a trip to Edinburgh planned for the beginning of June- so I shall be buying heaps there yay!

Thanks if you took the time to read this- I realise its a bit rambly without point.

I'm really looking forward to posting and chatting with you lovely people. If you have any requests for upcoming posts be sure to put them in the comments, and let me know what I've missed!

The Sunday Post #9

top of white drawers with small black TV, notebooks, sweets, candle holders, large pink jewellery box and lime green lamp
Hey Everyone!

Pheww- I haven't blogged in over a week! Bad Julianne. Its been months since I've had such a dip. I am however going to try and get back into the every second day routine as I feel so out of touch with everything when I leave this corner of the web neglected for so long.

Oh and happy Easter! (A week late oops!)

How cute are these knits my mum made me?!

My Life
Its the Easter holidays yay! The first night of the holidays I decided (rather indulgently) to have it to myself and try some DIYs I saw on Pinterest (look out for that in a coming post). Then I was in Edinburgh for a few days which was fantastic but soo cold! I thought nowhere could be colder than Glasgow, but was proven wrong. I did lots of shopping though- watch the haul here. Then the rest of my days have consisted of being in the library 24/7. Its so weird all the days have merged into one because I'm just studying.

Weekly Favourite
I am absolutely obsessed with Pinterest. Comment with your Pinterest names below so I can have a nosy at your boards! Mine is pinterest.com/julzobsessions/. I've also been loving my Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in shade 107. I refuse to stop wearing it until the sun fully appears (talking of sun, how amazing is it having lighter nights?! I'm loving it!)

So that's all- quite a short post this week! I'm going to go on and write a few more posts before I go to bed (its currently the early hours of Sunday morning) so I have a stash for during the week.

The Sunday Post #8

top of white drawers with small black TV, notebooks, sweets, candle holders, large pink jewellery box and lime green lamp

Hey Everyone!

Its the early hours of Sunday morning and I thought I'd write a quick post before I go to bed so I can have the whole day tomorrow studying (except if I get distracted by the bloggers twitter chat which happens all too often.)

My Life
Has been pretty boring to be honest. Its literally been school, study, sleep, school, study, sleep. Though I have started using a diary (a bit late in the year, I know) for to do lists and its been really helpful. I'm really looking forward to going to Edinburgh next week to shop shop shop and relax! I noticed that Boots have 3 for 2 mix and match across cosmetics at the moment- YAY! Hopefully it'll still be on when I'm there- let me know if you know when it finishes!

Update
Well woah there lets stop a sec. Have you noticed? I've got a new layout! After much confusion surrounding HTML, I decided to restore my default layout and work from there to get it the way I wanted because my coding had got to the point where it had locked or something. I'm so happy (at last!) with this layout- what do you think?

This week I took advantage of the free postage and bought Missguided's Rose Gold Watch! I love love love it- though its a bit big so I'll have so get some links off before I can wear it. I ordered it at like 7pm on Tuesday night and it arrived on Wednesday- how fab it that?

The Sunday Post #7

top of white drawers with small black TV, notebooks, sweets, candle holders, large pink jewellery box and lime green lamp
Hey Everyone!

How are you? You may (or may not) have noticed that last week I didn't write a Sunday post as I was just so darn busy. Today I'm taking a little while out of maths revising to do it though.

My Life
Most significant point of the week: going to see Olly Murs- yayyy! It was such a fab night- he's a great performer. Then yesterday I went for a little Costa catch up with some buddies (teehee I like that word) and then popped into Superdrug. I got moisturiser (which I needed badly), Collection 2000 Felt Tip Liner (I'll review it when I've given it a good test run) and Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in Lychee which I lurveee already! I've also become obsessed with Pinterest over the past week or two- I lie in bed for hours at night just browsing it.
four rounded corner square photos from left to right and down: olly murs singing with band in background, OM staging, olly with black hat pointing out to audience, costa hot chocolate
Update
I'm pleased to say I've stuck to the 'posting every other day in March' resolution, though I miss that little post a day thing I done in the second half of February as I felt really in the loop. I just don't have the time for that anymore though. The early hours of Sunday morning which used to be spend writing posts for the upcoming week are now spent writing history essays.

After the Google Reader closing drama during the week I'm pleased to notice that my number of Bloglovin' followers has more than quadrupled, though GFC seems to have taken a hit in return. Oh and did anyone notice the new header? I'm not entirely sure about it but it'll do for now. Ideally, I'd like to do a full blog revamp- but my HTML is so messed up it won't let me change anything.

Weekly Favourite
Firstly, I am loving Pretty Little Liars at the moment- it is so amazing. I had a tiny melt down though late on Friday night when I was catching up- I got so scared that I literally stopped it and left the rest to watch in daylight aha! I've also been really enjoying just putting on the radio in the background. As always, the highlight of that is when One Direction comes on, but I've also really been liking Stay by Rihanna- kind of depressing but good for getting to sleep (and belting out in the shower).

The Sunday Post #6

top of white drawers with small black TV, notebooks, sweets, candle holders, large pink jewellery box and lime green lamp
Hey Everyone!

My Life
I am getting so busy again *sad face*- this weekend I have a ridiculous amount of homework, but I seem to be coping with it ok- I need to get to work as soon as I finish this post and hopefully I'll be all good. For a bit of a break yesterday (and since I was passing) I popped into Primark. I can safely say my love has returned. You may know that I went off Primark recently because of their increasing prices and I wasn't really loving their stuff, but yesterday when I went in it was amazing! I spent well over an hour in there, causing me to miss lots of trains and it took an hour and a half to get home instead of 20 mins (though to be honest that was the trains' fault!) and I also missed the beginning of Saturday Night Takeaway. However, with the help of +1 I managed to rescue the situation. Anyway, I will either post about what I bought or make a video in the coming days so look out for that!

Update
Did anyone notice that I said I would post everyday this week again, but missed Saturday? Bad Julianne. Ah well, I reckon I'm excused for the sheer volume of homework I have. I don't plan on posting everyday next week, though I will post more frequently from now on- perhaps every other day in March? Ooh there's an idea. Also, I'm thinking of having a little revamp of the layout in the coming weeks: nothing major just maybe alter the page tabs at the top as I don't really post a lot on fashion any more. Oh and I also added a search gadget in the sidebar: I don't know why I haven't sooner as I use them all the time on other blogs.

Weekly Favourite
Although I'm still very much loving One Direction, this weeks favourite goes to the extremely talented Robyn from http://www.robynmakesthings.com/ who did an amazing illustration for me! You guys should definitely check out her blog- her art is just great and I am actually very inspired to get out a sketch pad- though I guess my stick men wouldn't quite compare :P

This is the fab illustration Robyn done for me- I'm definitely going to incorporate it into my blog layout in some way!

The Sunday Post #5

top of white drawers with small black TV, notebooks, sweets, candle holders, large pink jewellery box and lime green lamp
Hey Everyone!

My Life
Well I've been back at school which is not the most fun thing in the world. I have heaps to do already. I'm pretty stuck for ideas for a creative/ reflective piece I've to write for Monday so I think I'll be spending a fair amount of time on that today. I had a quiet weekend, just got my hair done (see upcoming post) and watched some Saturday night tv (Ant & Dec Saturday Night Takeaway is back YAYYY!).

Update
I've been loving the consistency of posting everyday at 6pm so much that I'm going to extend it into this week too- yay! I've actually got pretty organised on my blog lately- I've taken all my pictures, came up with ideas and written a good chunk of posts at the weekend then just finish them off through the week. I've also been regularly contributing to the #bbloggers chats which I love as I get to talk to heaps of lovely bloggers as well as getting Julz' Obsessions 'out there'.

Weekly Favourite
I have gained an unhealthy obsession with One Direction. I am honestly head over heels! Its safe to say my friends and family alike judge me, but I don't care- they're great. I've listened to their new song for literally hours, just playing it over and over again. I'll embed the video so you can watch it if you haven't :)

The (Belated) Sunday Post #4

I'm posting everyday at 6.00pm this week: let me know in the comments if you would like me to post at set times like this more often :)top of white drawers with small black TV, notebooks, sweets, candle holders, large pink jewellery box and lime green lamp
Hey Everyone!

My Life
I never got around to doing a Sunday post yesterday but I thought I'd still do it despite the fact its Monday. So what's been going on with me? Well I've basically had the whole of the last week relaxing which has been amazing. Today is where all the hard work starts again *cry*.

Update
I'm thinking the old blog header needs a bit of a revamp. I was thinking about changing the whole layout but at this stage I've messed around with the HTML so much that there is no return

I'd also like to say hello to my 8 new followers *waves*. I've been loving the #bbloggers chats on twitter (I've actually had time to join both of them this week)- they're so inspiring and you get chatting to lots of like minded people as well as discovering heaps of new blogs. Although last night I couldn't tweet for an hour because apparently I went over my daily tweet limit- thanks for that twitter.

Weekly Favourite
On Saturday I had a little catch up day with two friends and we went to Costa and I discovered a delicious new drink which is going to be this week's favourite. Its called Iced Lemonade and you can also get strawberry but I prefer the original! It was really nice and cosy having a chat there- although something extremely weird happened- a guy over in another table was drawing me -  what the heck?!

The Sunday Post #3

Hey Everyone!

Update
You'll never guess what? Julz' Obsessions is 1 on the 12th! Eek I cannot believe its been a whole year since I published my first (pretty cringe worthy!) post. I haven't decided how to celebrate yet, perhaps a collage of posts throughout the year! In other blogging news, I tweaked my description and added a new tab 'About/Contact'. I really want to try and make an effort to communicate more with other bloggers and you guys :)

My Life
My exams are almost over WOOHOO! Of course as soon as they're done I'll have to get straight back into studying for the final ones in May but at the mo I only have History left. The past couple of days have been amazing! I caught up on Kardashians, Pretty Little Liars, reorganised my room and have been listening to music to my heart's content! Tis been swell.

The Sunday Post #2

top of white drawers with small black TV, notebooks, sweets, candle holders, large pink jewellery box and lime green lamp
Hey Everyone!

My Life
Well its official- my 'mock'/practice/ back up exams have begun. Eeek! Maths was first on Friday and English is tomorrow! I've spent the whole week in the library- I've barely saw the light of day! On the bright side, on Friday I (perhaps stupidly) decided to have the afternoon and night off. I sorted through makeup, watched Pretty Little Liars (has anyone been watching- ITS AMAZING!) and caught up on YouTube.

Weekly Favourite

So, for my English course this year we are studying The Great Gatsby and with a few exceptions, I have never loved a book more. I think you get so much more out of a book when you study it! I cannot even explain my excitement for this film. There are two trailers out and I know pretty much all the words of haha! Watch them and feel the anticipation! Random but yep, I thought I'd share my huge love and excitement for The Great Gatsby.

The Sunday Post #1

Hey Everyone!

I've decided on yet another post series- The Sunday Post. Sunday is the day where I almost always post as I stay up on Saturday night (like now), writing. So on a Sunday I thought I'd do a kind of general, chatty post consisting of my week, instagram pictures (if I get back into it!) and my week's favourite! And who knows, perhaps I'll actually keep up with this themed post!
top of white drawers with small black TV, notebooks, sweets, candle holders, large pink jewellery box and lime green lamp
Update
You might have noticed I added some pictures to the sidebar. I thought it'd be nice to pick a few which represent my blog best! There's also a poll (ooer!) which I'd appreciate your votes on! The next aim in terms of design is coming up with a better blog description, as I think the current one is really old and doesn't accurately describe my blog.

My Life
In short- stressful! My prelims (which are like practice/ backup exams) are this week (OMG HELP!) and to be perfectly honest I've never been this busy/freaked out/unstable in my life! To give you an idea, I spent today (Saturday) in school then the library then my house studying maths for about 12 hours. Eek!

Weekly Favourite
Ok, I know I'm extremely, latest of the late on the bandwagon, but recently I have been loving One Direction! I liked them when they were on The X Factor (especially Zayn) but since they got so big I kind of lost interest. However, mostly thanks to my favourite Youtubers, I think they're amazing again! I particularly love 'Kiss You' which is such a silly, happy song! I just want to run around doing the swimming dance listening to it haha!
