FOTD: Something Different

Hey Everyone!

After shopping my stash (Monday's post), I decided to get out of my daily makeup rut (can it be called a rut if you like what your using?) and switch up my FOTD on Saturday. I did something I never do and used products I have either given up on or forgotten about and tried to make them work.

Products:
Clinique Almost Makeup
This was the first foundation I ever got and wore it everyday for ages. I thought if I loved it then, maybe I can still love it? WRONG. First thing I didn't like- it didn't sink into my skin very well using a brush and I had to revert to my hands which I don't like doing. Another problem was the orange face white neck situation- eek. It has quite a nice smell but that's about the only think I liked.
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
10/10 as always- I don't use any other concealer.
MUA Cream Blush in Dolly
I got this for Christmas and can't believe how long its taken me to try it! I'm not going to say a lot as I'll do a full review soon but I really like the colour and it blends well.
You may also notice a pearly eyeshadow- its from Accessorize and I used it as a highlighter. It didn't show up very well- I think it should stick to its day job.
Fearne Day Compact Eyeshadow
A kind of meh product. It will do if there's nothing else but its not very pigmented.
Clinique Cream Shaper for Eyes
Using this had completely confirmed my hate for pencil eyeliners. In general they're just so much effort for a bland result.
MUA Extreme Felt Liner
This saved the day for this FOTD, but it isn't as 'juicy' or black as I'd like it to be- I think I'll just stick to my usual liquid liner.
Clinique High Lengths Mascara
The whole face was worth it for rediscovering this one product! I LOVE THIS! It apply's so easily- literally a few strokes gives luscious lashes. It gives great length as well as volume and the shape of the wand is so convenient. And it comes off so easily :) I think this is my second favourite mascara (first is still They're Real!)
MaxFactor Silk Gloss
I am really not a lip gloss fan, but this one is an exception. The smell makes it worth it. I am hopeless at describing smells but its just really sweet and yummy! It gives a slight pink tint and a whole lot of shine.

I'm overall really glad I done this mix-it-up FOTD. Its allowed me to discover products I forgot about: MUA Cream Blush, Clinique High Lengths Mascara and MaxFactor Silk Gloss as well as reminding me why I don't use some products like Clinique Almost Makeup and pencil eyeliners. Its also made me appreciate my everyday products and makes me think I've actually got a great selection at the moment.

Shopping the Stash

Hey Everyone!

In this post I talked about how I sorted through all my make up and chucked out the stuff I don't need/ use any more. As I was doing that, I found a selection of products that were hiding at the bottom of my makeup bag which I had forgotten about and deserved more love. Instead of going out and buying new products, I have delved into what I already have.
black pencil liner, hot pink lipgloss tube, white mini tube, black long eyeliner pen tube, hot pink lipgloss tube
Clinique Cream Shaper for Eyes
MaxFactor Limited Edition Silk Gloss
Clinique High Lengths Mascara
MUA Extreme Felt Liner
MUA Lip Gloss

These products have been rotated into my everyday makeup stand and I'm excited to see how I get on. I like shopping my stash because you get similar excitement of new stuff but it doesn't cost and you rediscover things you had forgotten.

Have you shopped your stash lately?

Shopping My Stash | Decor & Miscellaneous

Hey Everyone (and a special hello to my 11 new followers woop!)

Typically, thoughts of summer bring to mind relaxation, sun and doing nothing. My summer consists of productivity, organisation and clear outs. Although its nice now and again, to me a lazy day is a wasted day, so when I've not been out with friends or the gym so far this summer, I have been tidying through and discovering long lost possessions- otherwise known as shopping my stash.
two blue boxes with red floral pattern, two pink and cream boxes with cupcake pattern, silver and pink rose trinket box, hot pink and lime green trinket box with frog on top, pink candle and small pink alarm clock
Whilst sorting through all my old stuff and clearing out, I found a number of cute things I thought would be perfect decor additions to my room. The storage boxes are so pretty, though I'm not entirely sure about them yet as they're not really in keeping with the colours of my room (pink and green). However, the rose print trinket box, candle and alarm clock definitely are! The little rose box was a little present from my mums friend when I was a flower girl at her wedding, the candle was a purchase from Ikea a while back (it smells amazing by the way) and the clock was a present from my cousin in New Zealand. And of course the cute little frog trinket box (I think every girl in the country bought one like this from Claire's when they were younger) matches my room perfectly. So after finding all this, I am in desperate need of a few display shelves- any recommendations of where I can get sturdy ones? I'm thinking B&Q or Ikea.

I also found a couple of random bits and bobs that I thought I would include.
little brown bag plastic keyring, silver keyring with pink bag, lipstick and fluffy black shoe charm and silver key ring with blue and pink beach charm
small pink book spine on large purple book spine
So there's some cute keyrings that will soon be making an appearance on my key and some books that I want to read. I've read the Lauren Conrad one before and really enjoyed it and I actually got the other one ages ago and never read it. I was determined to read lots this summer and I haven't skimmed one single page so I just need to get reading! I just find reading blogs or watching YouTube so much more tempting.

Shopping My Stash | Clinique Finds

Hey Everyone!

Since I have been on a very tight budget lately, I have been unable to purchase new products as often as I usually do and I have to admit I miss having new things to try. I have therefore been inspired by a few videos I saw on YouTube with the theme of "Shopping Your Stash". Simply put, this means searching through your neglected products to find treasures that are amazing but have been forgotten. I was pretty impressed with the idea and thought I would give it a go with my most neglected make up collection: my Clinique tin.
bright round white tin with green, orange and pink floral pattern
Most of my Clinique products are samples, my mums cast off's or bonus time gifts. Although I absolutely love getting freebies, I have found that since I did not purchase these myself, I've never felt the need to really get the use out of them, even if they are fantastic products which I would otherwise use to death (or till they run out). So a few nights ago, whilst shopping my stash, I found these gems.

sheer green tube bottle
pale pink bottle tube
small white eyeshadow palette with two browns and a cream
mini opened palette with mirror on top and rouge blush, cream eyeshadow and brown eyeshadow
So as you can see, quite a few amazing products have been hiding in my drawer! I have been using the Liquid Facial Soap every night since my simple face wash ran out and although its for combination oily to oily skin and I would describe mine as combination dry, it has worked perfectly and I have noticed somewhat of an improvement. The first few days I used it with my Soap & Glory sponge, but I noticed this was quite drying, so now I'm just using my hands and it works a treat. I'm not saying its a miracle treatment but its all I'm looking for in a face wash.

As for the Rinse Off Foaming Cleanser, I'm not entirely sure how to use it. I'm pretty sure its a makeup remover- but it says avoid contact with eyes. So perhaps you've just to use it to remove foundation and blusher etc and find an alternative method for eye make up? If you can share any knowledge on this let me know in the comments.

Finally, both mini palettes I found I am particularly excited about. I couldn't believe these had been forgotten for so long! The browns and neutrals are exactly the colours I wear and I think the pinky peach shadow would make a lovely highlighter. Also, I think the blush will give a lovely rosy glow for cooler days. (I wasn't sure whether the correct word is blush or blusher, I googled it, said it over and over and I've reached the conclusion that is doesn't matter- though I found that saying it over and over in your head means it doesn't seem like a word any more!)

So there we have it- my stash has successfully been shopped! I absolutely love this concept as it feels like getting new products without spending any money.

Have you shopped your stash lately? Found any forgotten treasures?
